SALT - Purple Reels Review

Directed by: Phillip Noyce
Written by: Kurt Wimmer

This has to be by far Angelina Jolie's best role yet. She was lethal in this movie, an absolute powerhouse, a raging bull. She went through so many disguises and in each her character was flawless. Salt (Angelina Jolie) plays a Russian spy who was trained from birth to perform missions for the Russian government. Salt disguises herself as an FBI agent and the rest is up to you to find out when you go see the movie!

There are many twists and turns throughout the movie but the jolt that you will feel, the adrenalin rush can be attributed to the excellent camera work/movement throughout the action scenes. The best action scene by far would have to be when she was jumping from moving truck top to moving truck top on the freeway in Washington, DC. What was superb about the writing was that nothing was revealed too quickly... the audience was always left in suspense even until the end!

The Director Phillip Noyce  did an excellent job on projection in reference to taking each scene to the next level! BRAVO! Purple Reels gives "Salt" Five stars *****

Purple Reels Fun Fact !!!
"While attending Howard University in Washington, DC Purple Tramble witnessed Angelina Jolie's action scene being filmed not too far from her part time job in the downtown DC area."

Raising Hope: The Equal Voice Story "SPECIAL SCREENING"

A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM PURPLE REELS
 July 22, 2010

It is very necessary to spotlight the positive things going on in our communities. One of the best ways to relay to the world what is going on in our communities is through the art form known as "film." We have been going through a tough time as a nation but we have always managed to hold on somehow. Although some of us still feel like things are not coming together the way that we would like some way, somehow we always seem to recognize that American spirit deep within that allows us to succeed no matter what. It is that American dream that we strive for everyday. Yet how often do we stop to think about those who are not as blessed as we are to have the simple things in life? How often do we really stop and be thankful? Well I would like to offer you a chance to come and witness a great expression of just that...
"RAISING HOPE: THE EQUAL VOICE STORY"is a Documentary that tells the stories of 30,000 low-income people to create a national platform for lifting families out of poverty. Sofia Carmina Coppola - More than just a pretty face!

"More than Just a Pretty Face"

#Filmfacts So it turns out the movie I just watched "Marie Antoinette" was Directed and Written by Sofia Carmina Coppola daughter of Director Francis Ford Coppola and Eleanor Coppola... Cousin of Nicolas Cage, Marc Coppola, and Christopher Coppola. At age 32, she became the youngest woman ever to be Oscar-nominated as Best Director for "Lost in Translation"(2003). Her first appearance on film was as the baby (boy) in the Baptism sequence in The Godfather (1972). The Coppolas, are the second family to have Oscar winners in three generations with her father, Francis Ford Coppola, grandfather, Carmine Coppola, and cousin, Nicolas Cage, all winners. The Coppola family has definitely made a name for themselves. RIGHT ON!

Check out the trailer for "Marie Antoinette" below...

Purple Reels gives Karate Kid [5] ***** Stars!

The old karate kid was directed by John G. Avildsen and written by Robert Mark Kamen. Starring Ralph Macchio who is looking quite handsome these days and Pat Morita. The Karate Kid was a definite classic in my family and definitely reigns among the top ten greatest movies of all time. Pat Morita was nominated in 1985 for an Oscar and Golden Globe for best supporting actor. The movie won "The Young Artist Award" for "Best Family Motion Picture - Drama." Elisabeth Shue won "Best Young Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture Musical, Comedy, Adventure, or Drama." William Zabka was nominated for "Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture Musical, Comedy, Adventure or Drama." So to top a movie that was so successful already was somewhat of a challenge. However even after changing some aspects of the movie, the modern version seems to appeal to a wide range of audiences. The kids are not necessarily the ones to please. There are some big kids out there who are very familiar with the 1984 classic. So those are the people who would undoubtedly be most critical about the remake.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jaden Smith has grown a lot as an actor and is fortunate to be in a family of creative people who are able to guide and protect his best interest. Taraji P. Henson was a great pick right now as well. She is at the peak of her career and this was a major role for her. It was nice to see them working together. I also think Jackie Chan was a good casting choice.

The Karate Kid is about strength and courage that was able to bridge the gap between generations. It also transcended ethnic cultures which was a great treat. In a modern world such as ours that was something to be proud of. Will and Jada Pinkett Smith were among the main producers of the movie. It is such a great thing to see a family like theirs pushing eachother to become greater. Their family is truly gifted and I'm glad they're giving their children the chance to shine...! We need more families like that in this world. Purple Reels gives The Karate Kid 5 ***** STARS!
