DC get ready! It's a CELEBRATION!!! I WILL FOLLOW is coming to WASHINGTON, DC
IT IS FINALLY HERE!!!!!! I WILL FOLLOW in WASHINGTON, DC!!!
the theatrical release of I WILL FOLLOW in Washington, DC by the newly-formed African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement (AFFRM). I WILL FOLLOW, starring Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Omari Hardwick, Blair Underwood and Beverly Todd, opens via grassroots distribution in select cities. One of those theatres is the WestEnd Cinema, 2301 M Street Northwest on Friday, April 15, 2011. And, we need your help to make this historic endeavor a success!
What is AFFRM? Earlier this year, AFFRM was profiled in the attached New York Times as a game-changer in the indie film world. AFFRM is a powerful collective of the nation’s finest black film festival organizations which have all pledged to deliver quality African-American independent films to urban communities via simultaneous theatrical release. This means that on the same day in five cities nationwide, grassroots organizations including Urbanworld in New York, the Pan-African Film Festival in Los Angeles and BronzeLens in Atlanta, stood together and mounted a national film release - just as Hollywood studios have done for over a century. Won’t you help us with this groundbreaking, grassroots mission?
5 WAYS TO HELP!
1) FIRST WEEKEND!Join black film lovers in Washington, DC as we stand together and revolutionize black film distribution. Simply attend I WILL FOLLOW’s screenings at WestEnd Cinema starting on Friday, April 15! Make it a point to support this release via the African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement (AFFRM), a grassroots collective fostering and furthering black indie film. Success for I WILL FOLLOW in April means AFFRM can release another quality black film independently later in the year! We don’t need Hollywood studios to give us permission to release our films theatrically! We can do it ourselves!
2) GET YOUR GROUP ON!
Organize a group to see the film at a specific showtime! Gather your family, a group of friends, your church ministry, your fraternity/sorority or your co-workers together to see I WILL FOLLOW opening weekend starting Friday, April 15 at WestEnd Cinema! Change cinema while bonding with loved ones!
4) BE A DIGITIAL SOCIALITE!
Join our Social Media Team and post images, videos, status updates and tweets on your personal blog, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, MySpace, YouTube and Flickr pages! We need you!
5) BE OUR GUIDE!
Are you skilled in a certain area that might help us on this mission? What is your talent? Do have connections to marketing or promotional opportunities that might help the cause? Do you know a printer who will lend some copies? Do you have a friend with the sick email blast list? Is there a place in your neighborhood that will run the trailer in their store? Are you great at graphic design? Tell us your talent, your connections, your interest. We welcome your ideas and advice!
